If you have hired an attorney to handle your debt settlement, your attorney will be your creditors’ only point of contact. In fact, once they have been informed that you’re being represented by an attorney, creditors are required by federal law to communicate only with your attorney rather than with you.

If you’ve decided to handle the debt settlement process yourself, the only other way to stop creditor phone calls is to send your creditors a Cease Communication letter asking them to put any communication to you in writing rather than contacting you by telephone.
